Reject Teck campaign

The Reject Teck campaign was a campaign led by 350.org and LeadNow, to lobby decision-makers to reject the Teck Frontier Mine in Fort McMurray, Alberta. This campaign took place across Canada in February 2020, and succeeded in getting the Liberal government to turn away from this wrong-headed mining project, which would have emitted approximately six megatonnes of carbon (CO2e) per year.

Notre-dame-de-Grace–Westmount riding activists visited MP Marc Garneau’s office and left messages on his door, and other activists did the same in their respective Montréal ridings.

One clever aspect of this campaign was the artwork depicting MPs as they might look six years in the future, and imagining them regretting their decision to go forward with the mine.

This campaign succeeded–and the mining project was dropped.
